I hadn't realized how much healing by faith is listed in chapters 8 and 9. That's very interesting and I'd like my faith to grow, too. The problem with that is that God will have to give me tough situations to learn from and grow through.

I've been reading Charles Colson's "Loving God" the last few days. The majority of the first few chapters deal with faith. He notes that the people had faith FIRST and then saw Jesus work. It seems that nowadays people want to see the miracles first and then their faith grows. But that is not true faith...it is a faith based on what God does for you. To quote him:

"This is real faith: believing and acting obediently regardless of circumstances or contrary evidence. After all, if faith depended on visible evidence, it wouldn't be faith. 'We walk by faith, not by sight,' the apostle Paul wrote.

"True faith depends not upon mysterious signs, celestial fireworks, or grandiose dispensations from a God who is seen as a rich, benevolent uncle; true faith, as Job understood, rests on the assurance that GOD IS WHO HE IS."
