Belgian Waffles with Cherry Sauce
Melted butter (1/2 cup)
4 eggs (white and yolk separated)
Cherry Sauce
Sugar (1/4 cup)
Cornstarch (2 tsp)
Ground cinnamon (1/8 tsp)
Orange juice (1/2 cup)
2 cups sweet cherries, pitted and halved
Grated orange peel (1 tsp)
Sweetened whipped cream

Sugar (1/4 cup)
Cornstarch (2 tsp)
Ground cinnamon (1/8 tsp)
Orange juice (1/2 cup)
2 cups sweet cherries, pitted and halved
Grated orange peel (1 tsp)
Sweetened whipped cream
1. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt thoroughly. Separately, mix milk, butter, and egg yolks. Add to dry ingredients and stir to moisten. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake in waffle iron following manufacturer’s directions.
2. Now make the cherry sauce. Mix sugar, cornstarch, and cinnamon, add orange juice, cherries and orange peel. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, boil until thickened.
3. Serve the warm cherry sauce over waffles and top with sweetened whipped cream.
