  • How did you meet your husband?  I met him online at christiancafe.com - - - Are you shocked?  My family and friends were encouraging me to try on-line dating, but I was dead set against it.  I did signed up for the free trial just so they would leave me alone.  Well, I’m so glad I did.  I was so very skeptical…choosing to communicate with a guy on the other side of the world…thinking it would be safe and that there was no chance in anything happening.  Ha!  God had other plans.  Because here I am in Australia, happily married to my wonderful husband whom I met the way I never thought I would.
  • What first attracted you to him? His smile!
  • How did you know he was the one?  His smile!  It wasn’t long after we met online that we had ditched Christian Cafe and he was calling me…three and four hour phone calls!  Web cam and Instant Messaging…for hours!  Three months after we met he was on a plane to see me.  Christmas week he came, proposing before he flew back.  Wow!  That was the hardest good-bye I’ve ever experienced!  We were married in America three months later…he flew back again.  We married on a Saturday and were boarding a plane the next morning for Australia.  It’s been one GREAT ADVENTURE!  See what can happen when you leave your life in God’s hands?!
  • How long have you been married? 10 months…we will celebrate our first anniversary March 3rd.
  • What’s something you learned about him after you were married that surprised you? How much he loves my cooking.  Having a long distance relationship, I didn’t cook for him before we were married.  It has been a delightful surprise for me to learn that he absolutely loves my cooking.  We hardly ever have leftovers.  He also likes to cook with me, which I enjoy.  He is a great cook, too.  For our honeymoon, he surprised me by making me a meal all by himself…Cajun Chicken.  Ooh-La-La!  So scrumptious!  I’ve already asked for it again for Valentine’s Day.  The recipe can be found on my Yum! Recipes page.
  • What do you argue about the most? Time.  I’m more time oriented than he is.  I’m learning to be more flexible and he is learning to manage his time better.  We are learning together.
  • What quality in him do you admire most? He offers to do the dishes…and then he does them!  He’ll have a load of wash done and hung to dry before I even know he put any laundry in the wash.  He helps out with the housework.  It may not always be done the way I would do it…but I’m not going to complain…he’s helping!  Huzzah!
  • What is the hardest part about being married? Communicating.  I end up having a whole conversation in my head and decide what he will think about something before I ever bring it up with him.  Which means, he only finds out what I think he is thinking because he had to ask me why I’m so glum.  I’m learning to speak to him, not think for him.
  • What’s the best part about being married? The joy.  We laugh so much together.  We are growing so much together.  Everyone says this, but it’s true…he is my best friend…and so much more.
  • What’s the one piece of advice you’d give to other wives about creating a happy marriage? Be kind and loving to each other.  When something is bothering him…or he is having a bad day, and I may feel defensive…or he does…I think, “I have no fight with him…he is my Love…he needs love right now.”  Be patient with each other.  Try to see things from the other person’s point of view.  Always kiss goodnight!

I really enjoyed reading this meme! Thank you for sharing about your husband and yourself. :) I always enjoy hearing how someone met their spouse. I just may participate in this meme.

By the way, I am sorry for not participating in your tag last time. I was in Michigan for Christmas and then when we got home I got really busy trying to get things back in gear. Then I just plain forgot. I am sorry. Would you still like me to do it?
