T-Shirt Transformation Progress Report

If you have been to my Busy Hands Are Happy Hands page, then you know about my transform-an-old-t-shirt-into-a-halter-top project. It was easy enough to get started. I quite enjoyed myself. However, my interest is waning, the novelty of transforming one of my husband’s old t-shirts into something cute I can wear has vanished. Frustration and apathy are threatening to set in and steal the joy I was getting from creating something with my own two hands.

The gussets are what did me in…now that I know what gussets are…I was so proud of myself for figuring out how to fit gussets to my “new-to-me” halter top. They didn’t come out perfect…not exactly mirror images of each other…but sufficient for my first time…I was pleased.

So, what’s my problem? Now that I have sewn in the gussets, it doesn’t lay right. I fussed and fidgeted with the side seam for days. I’ve ignored it for about a week now…at a loss of what to do. I have a huge desire to finish it and to figure it out for myself.

…sigh…

It’s time to ask for help. Any help will be greatly appreciated and received with a happy heart. Thanks!

“Are you coming to MY house?”

My soon to be 3 year old nephew’s voice rang with excitement, “I love you, Bobbie! Are you coming to my house?”

My heart melted at the sound of his sweet voice…so many miles away. Time, space, distance…these concepts mean nothing to him. All he knew was that his Auntie was on the phone, he could hear my voice, surely Bobbie could come to his house. What could I say? “No,” would crush his tender little heart. He wouldn’t understand why. Any affirmative answer would send him to the window greatly anticipating my arrival.

“What will we do?” I asked, laughing to mask the emotion welling up inside me. This did the trick…he moved on to other subjects. Speaking with his mouth full of breakfast cereal he rambled on about various and sundry subjects…of which to this day neither his mother nor I know what he said.

Thankfully, I was able to keep composed. It’s never good to cry to a toddler on the phone. This happened to me once with my nephew. “Bobbie crying,” he said with much concern…and that’s all he said for the duration of our conversation. His mother and grandmother were finally able to assure him that Bobbie is okay and crying no more.

I look forward to the day when he will ask, “Are you coming to my house?” and I will be able to answer, “Yes! Watch from you window. Bobbie is on her way!”

I imagine what that sweet reunion will be like. I’m certain there will be some tears…and much delighted laughter…plenty of hugs and kisses. It will be a wonderful day! All in God’s time….

To my nephew, who is waiting for Bobbie to come to his house, your Uncle and Auntie will be there soon…God will bring us together in His way and His time! We love you and pray for you. You are growing up to be such a big boy. We are proud of you!

Hugs & Kisses

Love,

Uncle Aaron & Bobbie
